CEO of MyGov Akash Tripathi will also lead the India Semiconductor Mission

Joint secretary Sushil Pal will be in charge of the Rs 17,000 crore PLI plan for IT gear, and MeitY joint secretary Sanket Bhondve would be in charge of content blocking orders under Section 69 of the IT Act.

As Amitesh Sinha’s deputation at MeitY comes to an end, his duties are distributed among a number of senior officials in the ministry.

According to persons familiar with the situation, MyGov Chief Executive Officer Akash Tripathi, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer from the 1998 batch, would take over as the director of the India Semiconductor Mission, which is responsible for the nation’s $10 billion chip subsidy program.

Amitesh Sinha, an Indian Railway Accounts Service Officer, will be replaced in the position by Tripathi. Sinha oversaw the production-linked incentive program for technological hardware and served as the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s nodal officer for the removal of social media content in accordance with Section 69 of the IT Act.

Sources claim that as Sinha’s deputation is coming to an end, his duties are being shared among several senior ministry officials as a temporary solution. Another joint secretary-level officer may be appointed in the future to handle these responsibilities.

A different joint secretary in the ministry, Sanket Bhondve, would be in charge of the Section 69 content blocking orders, while joint secretary Sushil Pal will handle the Rs 17,000 crore PLI scheme for IT hardware.

Of course, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act has just nominated Bhondve as an officer on special duty (OSD) to establish the data protection board.
