Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt, a former WWE Champion, dies

The WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk passed away a few days ago, and the wrestling world has now lost another legend. On August 24, 36-year-old Windham Rotunda, better known by his ring name Bray Wyatt, passed dead. Triple H, a 14-time world champion and chief content officer, broke the news of his passing. As reported by wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp on X, Wyatt passed away from a heart attack.

“Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda — also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed away earlier today,” Levesque wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Our thoughts are with his family, and we ask that everyone respect their right to privacy at this time.”

Bray Wyatt, formerly known as Windham Rotunda, passed suddenly on Thursday, August 24, at the age of 36, according to a statement released by WWE. WWE sends its sympathies to Rotunda’s friends, family, and supporters.

The Rock, also known as Dwayne Johnson, a former wrestler and actor, expressed his sorrow at Wyatt’s passing. “I’m heartbroken over the news of Bray Wyatt’s passing,” he wrote in his post. He and the Rotunda family have my undying respect and love. I like his presence, promotions, in-ring performance, and connection to the WWE universe.

Character that is very uncommon, cool, and difficult to build in the wild world of pro wrestling. Still absorbing Terry Funk yesterday and Bray today losing the goat. I send the Rotunda family and the Funk family my love, light, strength, and mana during this trying and tragic time. “Thank you for the house, as always.”

Ric Flair said, “It Really Makes Me Reflect & Think About Life When Your Great Friend And Someone Your Son’s Age Dies Within 2 Days! Never take a moment for granted! Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt, may you rest in peace.

The life and achievements of Bray Wyatt
He was a third generation wrestler in his family and was recognized as having one of the most inventive and creative brains in professional wrestling.

Mike Rotunda and Stephanie Rotunda’s kid was named Wyatt. In the 1980s, Robert Windham, often known as “Blackjack Mulligan,” achieved fame. His granddad participated in preseason games for the New York Jets and played collegiate football at UTEP as well.

The only other WWE wrestlers were Wyatt’s father and two of his uncles, Barry and Kendall Windham. In 2007, Wyatt wore a redshirt for the Troy football team.

According to The Sun, Wyatt was engaged to Joseann Offerman, popularly known as JoJo, with whom he shares two children.

Wyatt achieved the title of world champion three times in the WWE, twice taking home the Universal Championship and once the WWE Championship. According to media reports, there were rumors about him having an injury, which is why he hadn’t been seen on TV since February 2023.

While Rotunda beat five opponents to win the WWE Championship in 2017, including John Cena, AJ Styles, The Miz, Dean Ambrose, and Baron Corbin, his career continued to decline.

He captured the spotlight later in the year when he changed up his persona and entered the ring as the “Fiend.” He defeated 17-time champion John Cena at Wrestlemania 36 in 2020, which was his most notable triumph. The audience’s interest was further peaked by the highly anticipated match as both wrestlers engaged in combat within a “Firefly Fun House.”
