The first foldable OnePlus smartphone, the Open, could soon become official. OnePlus revealed that its first-ever foldable smartphone would be released soon during an event on Wednesday (September 20), but did not reveal the name. The brand has not yet formally confirmed the date, however a recent rumor indicates that the OnePlus Open will launch on October 19. An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, along with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, are expected to power the OnePlus Open.
In San Francisco, California, at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2023 event, OnePlus declared that its first-ever foldable smartphone would soon be released. According to OnePlus, the new product is “set to redefine the concept of foldable smartphones by delivering all-around flagship-level experiences in a compact foldable form factor”. More information about the device “will be available soon on the official OnePlus website, OnePlus forums, and social media channels,” according to OnePlus. The name “OnePlus Open” has been teased for a few months, but the business has not officially confirmed it at this moment.
Max Jambor (@MaxJmb), a well-known tipster on X (previously Twitter), asserted that the OnePlus Open will be on sale on October 19. OnePlus was rumored to be releasing its foldable phone in August, however this release date has apparently been delayed as a result of the company’s last-minute decision to switch from BOE displays to Samsung panels.
The OnePlus Open is anticipated to include an outward folding style similar to the Vivo X Fold 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. It is expected to make its debut as an offshoot of the Oppo Find N2. It might make its debut in China first before being released internationally in countries like India and the US.
According to OnePlus, a foldable smartphone has been in development for some time. It is anticipated to cost less than Rs. 1,20,000.
