Ola has resumed offering bike taxi services in Bengaluru- Bhavish Aggarwal

Ola is reintroducing electric bike taxis in Bengaluru, charging 25 for a 5 km ride and 50 for a 10 km ride.

Once more, Ola is introducing electric bike taxis in Bengaluru. Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO of the business, introduced the service via a social media post, charging 25 for a 5 kilometer ride and 50 for a 10 km journey, with hopes for national expansion.

Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and CEO of the business, said the following on the social media site X: “Restarting Ola Bike in Blr today. All electric this time, with our own S1 scooters.

According to Bhavish Aggarwal, the cost of a bike taxi is set at 25 rupees for a 5-kilometer trip and 50 rupees for a 10-kilometer trip.

“$25 for 5 km and $$50 for 10 km. Cheapest, most cozy, and excellent for the environment! Will spread throughout India in the upcoming months,” warned Aggarwal.

According to HT, Bengaluru’s taxi and car groups have recently urged the Karnataka government to impose a ban on bike taxis inside the city. They say that the use of these bike taxis with white board registration plates is illegal and that they endanger the safety of women. In addition, Rapido bike taxi drivers have reportedly been attacked by car drivers in several cases because of their presence.

According to reports, the administration claimed that following legal procedures would be necessary in order to put a ban on bike taxis. Following the Federation of Karnataka State Private Transport Association’s declaration of a bandh in Bengaluru, Ramalinga Reddy, the state’s transport minister, expressed his determination to address and resolve the issues brought up by the state’s taxi and auto drivers.

According to Moneycontrol, Ola has joined the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to offer food delivery services, but it is only currently accessible to a restricted number of consumers.

According to sources speaking to Moneycontrol, the business has been testing the feature for more than a month in its app for both staff members and the few customers who can access it.

As insiders also confirmed to the daily, Ola won’t be releasing a separate delivery app, it was further stated that the feature is available on the app under the name “OLA ONDC food.”
