At the Andhra Pradesh stick battle event, 3 people died and nearly 90 were hurt

In the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, a traditional stick battle festival resulted in at least three fatalities and 90 injuries.

In the Andhra Pradesh Kurnool area, a traditional stick battle celebration known locally as the Banni festival resulted in at least three fatalities and over 90 injuries.

Eight of the 90 injured victims are reportedly in critical condition. People hurt in the stick fight were taken to the Kurnool district’s Adoni and Aluru government hospitals right away.

The venue in the Devaragattu region hosted the annual stick battle event under heavy security.

The Devaragattu Jaitra Yatra was attended by thousands of devotees on Tuesday.

On the eve of Vijayadasami, the Banni festival is observed in remembrance of the triumph of Lord Mala Malleswara Swamy and Goddess Parvati over the demons Mani and Mallasura, who had plagued the locals in the Devaragattu district.

The grounds of the Mala Malleswara Swamy Temple host the yearly religious celebration.
