PM Modi to inaugurate RAPIDX service on Delhi-Meerut RRTS

New Delhi: According to plans announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) service in India would begin operating along the Delhi-Meerut line. After the official opening, the public will have access to the 17 kilometer priority portion between Sahibabad and Duhai; a further 25 km part will be added during the following six months. Additionally ready for service are the stations in Muradnagar, Modinagar North, Modinagar South, and Meerut South.

Rapid rail construction began in June 2019, and it is anticipated that the entire 82.15 km track, together with metro services in Meerut, will be operational in June 2025. The Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and New Development Bank (NDB) jointly funded the construction of the corridor, which cost 30,274 crore.

The National Capital Region’s (NCR) public transportation system is anticipated to benefit greatly from the RRTS service. With trains capable of traveling at up to 160 km/h, it will provide a quick and pleasant means of transportation between Delhi and Meerut.
