Deloitte’s position as Adani Ports’ auditor is likely to end

According to news agency Reuters, Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP will no longer serve as the Adani Port & SEZ’s auditor. This follows the auditor’s concerns about particular transactions that were emphasized in a report by US short-seller Hindenburg.

This information was given to the news agency by a person who had firsthand knowledge of the circumstance. Sources have revealed that the auditor and management had disagreements on a few transactions.

According to a source who spoke with The Economic Times, Deloitte will likely publicly announce its resignation as Adani Ports’ auditor in the coming days.

It is important to note that during 2017–2018, Deloitte has been auditing Adani Ports. Deloitte was reappointed as the statutory auditor for a term of five years last year, per the FY22 annual report of Adani Ports. If Deloitte steps down, it will be the third time in recent months that the auditors for Adani Group entities have changed.
