Chargebee – The Business Story

When Krish Subramanian was employed by Cognizant in 2009, he encountered a fork in the road when he was presented with the opportunity to open an account and build a team in the United States. To invest would have required 5-7 years. He made the decision to go back to India instead, where he considered opening his own company. Rajaraman Santhanam, a co-founder and Subramanian’s classmate from college, was developing a SaaS platform at Zoho at the time. Since they were in college, they both had a constant desire to launch their own firm. With time, they solicited the aid of Santhanam’s coworkers at Zoho, Saravanan KP and Thiyagarajan T. They all left Zoho to co-found Chargebee with Subramanian. In the beginning, one of the co-founders’ drawing room served as their temporary office space. They acquired their San Francisco headquarters in this manner over time.

The four founders assert that they had to put in a lot of effort to get where they are now and that success did not come easily to them.
