Anji Khad Rail Bridge Project in kashmir is India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, is now finished

Srinagar : The Anji Khad Rail Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, is now finished and prepared to link Kashmir with the rest of the country via train. One of the most difficult engineering projects in the world, the Udampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, is now underway, and the bridge is an essential component of it.

Anji Khad Rail Bridge is an engineering marvel of the modern day. Standing 331 meters above the riverbed, the bridge is an asymmetrical cable-stayed structure with a single main pylon. A 20-meter hybrid well foundation and 40-meter-deep micropiles support the pylon.

The lightweight and durable composite material used to make the bridge deck is constructed of steel and concrete. The 96 cables that hold the deck are fabricated in Slovakia and have lengths ranging from 82 meters to 295 meters.

The Anji Khad Rail Bridge is built to endure the severe weather of the Himalayas, which includes frequent earthquakes and a lot of snowfall. The bridge boasts state-of-the-art safety systems, including a fire detection and suppression system and a wind monitoring system, and was constructed to the greatest safety requirements.

An important development in the USBRL project is the completion of the Anji Khad Rail Bridge. After the project is finished, Kashmir and the rest of India will have a direct train connection. This will support Kashmir’s economic growth and tourism.

Apart from its economic advantages, the Anji Khad Rail Bridge is expected to have a noteworthy social impact. People will find it easier and more economical to travel between Kashmir and the rest of India thanks to the bridge. This will facilitate cross-cultural understanding and aid in the removal of barriers.

Anji Khad Rail Bridge is a representation of growth and unity in the country. It is evidence of India’s engineering brilliance and the people’s unwavering will to conquer any obstacle.

Here are some additional details about the Anji Khad Rail Bridge project:

  • The bridge is 725.5 meters long and has three spans, with the longest span being 331 meters.
  • The bridge deck is 15 meters wide and can accommodate a single railway line and a 3.75 meter wide service road.
  • The bridge is designed to carry trains at speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour.
  • The bridge is expected to last for over 120 years.

Undoubtedly, the Anji Khad Rail Bridge is an incredible feat that will undoubtedly improve the lives of millions of people.
