Aamir Khan will produce Sunny Deol’s upcoming movie, Lahore 1947, with Rajkumar Santoshi

Aamir Khan-produced Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming film will star Sunny Deol. The movie, titled “Lahore 1947,” received its formal announcement on October 3. Prior to this, Rajkumar and Sunny Deol had three box office successes with Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak.

Gadar 2’s enormous popularity has inspired Sunny Deol to start working on his next project. Although there were rumors that the actor might feature in “Border” 2, it now seems that this is not the case. Instead, he will work with Aamir Khan on the upcoming film he is making with Rajkumar Santoshi. The crucial year of 1947, when India attained independence and was divided into two nations just before the British left, will be the subject of the movie. A joint statement from Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan Productions announcing the same was released.

“I am really thrilled and excited to announce our upcoming film, Lahore, 1947, which stars Sunny Deol and is directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi. We are excited to work with Raj Santoshi, one of my favorite directors, and the incredibly talented Sunny. The path we’ve started looks to be really enriching. We ask for your favor. A,” the declaration read.

For the uninitiated, Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi have previously collaborated on three box office successes, including Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak.

Gadar 2 by Sunny Deol

Sunny Deol’s most recent appearance was in the blockbuster movie “Gadar 2,” which dethroned Pathaan as the highest grossing Hindi movie domestically in 2023. When the movie was ultimately released in August 2023, it was incredibly well received by the public, which caused chaos at the ticket counters. ‘Gadar 2: The Katha Continues’, which also features Ameesha Patel, is directed and produced by Anil Sharma.

The movie, which takes place during the 1947 Indian Partition, stars Sunny Deol as the truck driver Tara Singh and Ameesha Patel as Sakina. The movie follows Tara as he risks crossing the border in an audacious effort to free his son, who is being held captive in Pakistan, and is represented by Utkarsh Sharma.

Anil Sharma, the film’s director, recently disclosed that many fans have called him and asked him to “send” Gadar 2 to the Oscars. The director told Indian Express, “People are phoning me to ask me to submit the movie for the Oscars. Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001) failed to make a profit, so I’m not sure how Gadar 2 will perform, but we’re still here. Gadar 2 should, though, because the movie merits it. Gadar deserves it as well. The 1947 division served as the inspiration for Gadar, and we interpreted the tale totally differently. Gadar 2 is likewise a brand-new, original story, and it was a new one. Lagaan, directed by Aamir Khan, received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film that year.
