IPS Deepam Seth Appointed as the New DGP of Uttarakhand

NTI, Dehradun: IPS officer Deepam Seth has officially assumed the role of Director General of Police (DGP) for Uttarakhand. As per the order issued by State Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Deepam Seth, a 1995-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the 13th DGP of the state.

Speculation about his appointment had been rife since his central deputation came to an end. On Monday, the state government confirmed the decision, putting an end to weeks of anticipation.

Previously, IPS officer Ashok Kumar had retired from the position of DGP, and Abhinav Kumar was serving as the acting DGP. However, out of the seven names forwarded to the UPSC by the Home Department, Abhinav Kumar’s name was not included in the final three-member panel. This cleared the way for Deepam Seth, who was ranked first on the panel, to be appointed as the DGP.

Upon his appointment, Deepam Seth met Chief Secretary Radha Raturi at the Secretariat for a courtesy visit. He expressed his commitment to fulfilling his new responsibilities and emphasized his dedication to strengthening the state’s police force.
