Haridwar Police Take Swift Action Against Cocaine Traffickers

News Trust of India: In Haridwar district, a joint team of Manglaur Kotwali Police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) successfully arrested three drug traffickers. The team seized cocaine worth ₹1.3 crore from the accused. The police are preparing to present the suspects before the court under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. Additionally, they are investigating the criminal histories of all the accused.

Cocaine trafficking in Manglaur: To support Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s “Drug-Free Devbhoomi” mission, Haridwar SSP Pramendra Dobal directed all police stations in the district to take strict action against drug traffickers. Following these orders, Sub-Inspector Ranjit Tomar of Manglaur Kotwali Police and ANTF received information that some individuals were transporting cocaine through the Landhaura area towards Laksar.

Police nab cocaine traffickers: Acting on this tip, the police immediately began checking vehicles on Laksar Road. They attempted to stop three young men riding a motorcycle towards Laksar, but the suspects tried to flee. The police gave chase, and the suspects lost control of their motorcycle, crashing onto the road. The police apprehended them and conducted a search.

Over ₹1 crore worth of cocaine recovered from the traffickers: During the search, 183 grams of cocaine were recovered. According to the police, 115 grams of cocaine were seized from Azad, son of Karam Ilahi, resident of Jainpur Khurd, Laksar; 45 grams from Tanveer Ali, son of Tamijul Hasan, resident of Nehandpur Sothari, Laksar; and 23 grams from Faryad Ali, son of Akhtar Hasan. The estimated market value of the seized cocaine is ₹1.3 crore. The police also recovered the motorcycle used in the trafficking and ₹700 in cash.

Government’s “Drug-Free Uttarakhand” campaign: Following this action by the police, there is unrest among drug traffickers. Currently, the police are further investigating the criminal records of the arrested individuals. SP Dehat Swapn Kishore Singh stated that cases have been registered against all the accused under relevant sections, and they are being prepared for presentation before the court.
