Former CM Chandrababu Naidu Arrested in Corruption Case

Chandrababu Naidu, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, was detained by the state’s criminal investigation department (CID) in connection with a corruption case, which is a significant turn of events. The political environment has been shaken by this development. We explore the specifics of his arrest and the accompanying controversy in this piece.

Background of Chandrababu Naidu’s Arrest

When the CID detained Chandrababu Naidu on suspicion of corruption, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, he found himself in a difficult situation. Early in the morning, he was taken into custody, and an attempt was made to airlift him to the Nandyal Hospital for a checkup. Naidu, however, refused to go and is currently awaiting a medical checkup at the camp before appearing in court.

The Dramatic Turn of Events on Saturday

The arrest took place as Naidu was touring Banaganapalli in the Nandyal district, where he had spoken to a crowd on Friday. When the CID showed up on Saturday about 3 PM with an arrest warrant for Naidu, he was taking a nap in his vanity vehicle after giving his speech. The van was quickly surrounded by party members and leaders, preventing the CID from arresting the man.

Statement of Chandrababu Naidu

Following his detention, Chandrababu Naidu released a statement in which he urged the general public and party members to realize that he had committed no crimes. However, when the police showed there yesterday night, they immediately instilled fear and intimidation among the locals. They have come to arrest me today without any justification or proof. They refused to give me a clear response when I questioned them about the reasons they had for arresting me. They have now presented a First Information Report (FIR) here, but it makes no mention of my role or any other specifics. This is both terribly upsetting and unfair.

Response of the BJP to the Arrest

Purandeshwari, the state president of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, voiced her support for Chandrababu Naidu and denounced his detention. “Chandrababu Naidu was arrested today without proper notice, without including his name in the FIR, without further explanation, and without adhering to due process,” she wrote in a tweet. The BJP denounces this behavior.

TDP Workers and Police Engage in a tense exchange

Party officials and the Andhra Pradesh CID police engaged in an argument before the arrest. Naidu got out of his van at six in the morning and spoke with the cops. He had been the subject of an arrest warrant under Section 51 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Naidu asked the police for more information about the case, but they told him that the specifics had already been given to the court’s honor. After questioning Naidu, the police insisted they would deliver a thorough report.

The Corruption Case Arrests

The construction of infrastructure projects in Andhra Pradesh is the subject of charges against Chandrababu Naidu of involvement in the multi-billion dollar corruption scam. The police officials have provided Naidu’s attorneys with information about the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s FIR and other pertinent rulings. However, before offering their complete cooperation, Naidu and his attorneys have asked to see the major evidence. In a manner akin to the Dikshit Bus Scam investigation, the police have highlighted that his detention is a part of the preliminary investigating process.
