Gauchar (News Trust of India): The Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, participated in the ‘Nanda-Gaura’ event at Gauchar, where he emphasized the role of women empowerment in realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local, as espoused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the event, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 604 development projects worth over Rs 400 crore in the border district of Chamoli. This includes the inauguration of 260 schemes totaling to Rs 97 crore and the laying of foundation stones for 344 schemes worth Rs 303 crore. Additionally, the Chief Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts of women in various sectors and praised girl children.
A big roadshow was prepared from Gauchar airfield to Mela ground, where the Chief Minister was received with enthusiasm by the villagers and students. Traditional dances, plays, and musical acts were given, showcasing the cultural richness of the region. The Chief Minister actively engaged in promoting traditional hill items, including weaving carpets, spinning wool, and creating baskets, while also encouraging the creation of businesses along pilgrimage routes to market local products.
Addressing the significance of the Nanda-Gaura Mahotsav, the Chief Minister underscored the devotion for Maa Nanda and Gaura Devi, underlining their relevance in local culture and history. He underlined the government’s commitment to women’s welfare and development, mentioning efforts like as the Uniform Civil Code and several policies targeted at uplifting women economically and socially.
The Chief Minister gave cheques and keys to recipients of several projects, acknowledging their contributions to agriculture, fishing, handicrafts, and other areas. Women achievers were also awarded for their remarkable contributions to the empowerment of women and the upliftment of society.
In his closing remarks, the Chief Minister underlined his dedication to the state’s development and committed to take essential steps for the welfare of the people, including rigorous measures against corruption and initiatives to solve societal concerns.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister underlined the critical role of women, popularly referred to as “Matri Shakti,” in propelling the rural economy through cottage enterprises and self-help groups. He stressed the need of skill development among women, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to open bank accounts for 23 crore women and assuring direct subsidy transfers.
The administration’s dedication to women’s empowerment was reinforced by several initiatives including Mukhyamantri Nari Sashaktikaran Yojana, Mukhyamantri Mahalaxmi Yojana, and others, along with the introduction of 30 percent reservation for women in government posts.
During his talk, the Chief Minister also discussed key legislative measures implemented by the administration, including the enforcement of strong anti-copying laws, legislation against religious conversions, and actions against land jihad. These efforts were aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the state and establishing a conducive atmosphere for development.
In addition to celebrating women achievers, the Chief Minister gave financial support and resources to recipients of housing schemes and agricultural programs, recognizing their contributions to their communities.
